Target Group

In Finland, the DHL Log On Trainee Program for logistics students has traditions that date back to 1998. The target group is university students with orientation in logistics who are close to graduation – in their fourth or fifth year of studies in logistics or international business.

Aim of the program

The aim of the trainee program is to give you an extensive insight into the DHL Business Units in Finland through various project works. Each project takes approximately a month and each trainee usually works on 3 different projects over the summer months. Behind every project, there is a need arising from our business. You will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge and skills acquired during your studies in practice; we for our part will benefit from your project report and fresh viewpoints to our operations based on the latest insights from the academic world. The trainee program might also be the start of your DHL career.

Content of the program

A project work consists of collecting information, analyzing and revising it and writing a report. You will work on your projects independently, supported by a project tutor. The topics can range from process descriptions and market studies to analysis supporting further actions in a specific field. You will write a project report on each topic and a summary which you present to the Senior Management Group of the respective Business Unit.

Application and selection

Application usually starts in March and selection of trainees will be made by the end of April at the latest. The DHL Log On program usually signs up 2 -3 participants annually.

Training period

Trainee program takes place from June to August.

Next steps

After the program we can often offer support to those still looking for a topic for their diploma work. Some trainees might continue working for DHL straight after the program, for example part-time. In any case, the trainee program will give you a good basis to apply for a job at DHL after graduation. Several trainees have done just that - and continue their career path with us!
