Fuel surcharges

On these pages you find information about DHL fuel surcharges applied in various transport forms.

The airlines debit a fuel surcharge based on the world market price for Kerosine/jet fuel, which DHL debits as a separate position.

As of 12th March 2012, the fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is:
1,20 euros/kg

Domestic pick ups and deliveries

Fuel surcharges related to domestic pick ups and deliveries are debited as a separate position by DHL. This fuel surcharge is based on the Finnish diesel price index and will be updated on a monthly basis.

The fuel surcharge for less-than-truck-load transports is 25,81% effective 26th March 2012.
As of 30th of May 2011, the fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is:
1,10 euros/kg

As of 10th of May 2011, the fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is:
1,15 euros/kg

As of 4th of April 2011, the fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is:
1,10 euros/kg

As of 21st of March 2011, the fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is:
1,05 euros/kg

As of 7th of March 2011, the fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is:
1,00 euros/kg

As of 7th of February 2011, the fuel surcharge for air freight export from Finland is:
0,95 euros/kg


The shipping companies debit a bunker surcharge (Bunker Adjustment Factor, BAF), which is based on the world market price of bunker oil. Currency Adjustment Factor (CAF) is applied to offset the effects from fluctuations in currency exchange rates. These surcharges are debited by DHL as separate positions.

DHL applies its own BAF and CAF for main traffic areas. More information on the current BAF and CAF is available from your sales contact person at DHL.

Domestic pickups and deliveries
Fuel surcharges related to domestic pick ups and deliveries are debited as a separate position by DHL Global Forwarding. This fuel surcharge is based on the Finnish diesel price index and will be updated on a monthly basis.

The fuel surcharge for less that truck load transports is 25,81% effective 26th March 2012.
The fuel surcharge for road freight depends on the traffic area and is calculated on the freight price using the percentages shown. The current fuel surcharges in the traffic to and from Finland can be found from the table below.

These fuel surcharges apply for our Euroconnect, Euroline and Thermo products, i.e. groupage, part and full loads in both import and export.
